What are the requirements for membership?
The Lambda Gamma Chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. admits students without regard to their race, religion, color, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, creed, ancestry, political belief, or any other applicable protected category and affords each member all the rights, privileges, programs, and other activities generally accorded or made available to members of the organization.
Membership eligibility based on gender is valid due to gender being a bona fide membership qualification according to the Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. Policy and Procedure Manual, Membership Standards, Section 3. Sigma Lambda Gamma is a private membership organization, not open to men based upon the exemption given to social fraternities and sororities by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The Lambda Gamma Chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma will offer membership to any individual regardless of biological sex and/or sexual orientation, as long as the individual’s gender identity is congruent with a woman. Members are selected following a series of meetings, socials, and interviews by existing members of the Sorority from the Lambda Gamma Chapter at the University of Wyoming. Women selected for membership in Sigma Lambda Gamma must have good scholarship, be of good character, have an interest in activities that will enhance the academic atmosphere at the University of Wyoming, and have a sincere desire to contribute to the work of the Sorority. |
Full-time student in good standing at the University of Wyoming, which includes non-traditional students, as well.
Neither an Associate Member, nor a member of any similar University sorority or co-ed fraternity, except honorary, professional, or service. Willing to pledge herself to uphold the bylaws, financial obligations, principles, and policies and procedures of the Sorority. Holds a 2.75/4.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA). Meets all special regulations placed on members of the Sorority by the Panhellenic Council of the University of Wyoming. Click the button to access our membership application.
